Chicken. (2018, June 27). Retrieved from https://nationalzoo.si.edu/animals/domestic-chicken
Chicken is one the most famous or used animal product in any person’s life including myself. We consume chicken almost every day because it is truly one of the most delicious type of meet. Chicken is scientifically named as Gallus Domesticus, scientists believes that chickens were first domesticated from Red Junglefowl the first domesticated chicken from wild life that still runs in Southern Asia. Most of the chicken that we consume are hybridized with other type or kind of chicken like Gray Junglefowl. Most of these domestic chickens are from Southern China, Thailand, Burma, and India.
Domestic Chicken are usually less active in their behaviour. And have fewer social interaction with other chicken. They are also less aggressive than other types of chicken.
In north China, the first possible domestic chicken was discovered on 5400 BCE.2000 BCE, domesticated chickens started to appear in Mohenjo-Daroin in the Indus-Valleyand from there chicken started to spread in Europe and Africa. In 2007, bones were sited in El-Arenal 1 on Chile’s coast and it was identified to be chicken bones. DNA studies proved that the bones that have found in the coast of Chile was chicken bones. Because of this happenings chicken has been brought in South/North America by the Polynesian sailors, that’s why we have chicken here in North America.
There are a lot of places like supermarkets where you can buy this cut of chicken. The price of the chicken breast that I bought was 10 dollars. But before buying the meat I always check the label to know where is comes from. And also, I always think about what and how am I going to cook or use it. I will use or cook it my family’s dinner, so it will be worth it if I will buy it.
The cooking methods that you can use or do with this cut are Baking, Poaching, Sautéing, Grilling, Slow Cooking, and Pressure cooking. For me the best on is baking the breast, because baking will make the chicken breast tender, juicy and healthier than other way of cooking It. This method is also easier for me than other methods of cooking it.
